Guillermo Umpierrez, MD
Board Member
Guillermo Umpierrez is Professor of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He is also Section Chief, Diabetes and Endocrinology Division, at Grady Health Care System and Director, Grady Memorial Hospital Clinical Research Interaction Unit in Atlanta.
Umpierrez helped to design education and management programs for inner city minority populations with diabetes. He also works heavily with the American Diabetes Association in Atlanta lecturing and organizing screening programs at the annual American Diabetes Association EXPO events. Guillermo served on the Editorial Board of Diabetes Care and is a manuscript reviewer for several professional journals. He has served as Chair and President of the Atlanta Community Leadership Board and worked on the Professional Practice Committee, the Research Grant Review Committee and the Scientific Sessions Meeting Planning Committee.
Guillermo earned his MD from the University of Guayaquil in Ecuador.
