Janel Wright, JD
Vice Chair of the Board
Janel Wright is Chief of Adjudications for the Alaska Department of Labor, Workers' Compensation Division, where she administers the statewide workers' compensation adjudication program and is responsible for the legal processes and adjudicative functions of the Division of Workers' Compensation and Alaska Workers' Compensation Board.
Wright has been a volunteer for the American Diabetes Association for 21 years. She has been Chair of the national Advocacy Committee for the past three years where she has played an active role in the passage and protection of the Affordable Care Act, funding for Special Diabetes Programs and significant progress in the Safe at School campaign. Locally, she has served as Chair and is a member of the Alaska Community Leadership Board. In addition to her leadership on the national Advocacy Committee, her national service with the American Diabetes Association includes a variety of national committees and task forces, such as the Legal Advocacy Subcommittee, the Legislative Subcommittee as well as the Chair of local Gala and Tour de Cure events. She also works with the Alaska Diabetes Prevention & Control Program staff.
Janel holds a JD from Ohio State University College of Law in Columbus, Ohio, and a BS in Economics from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
