L. Hunter Limbaugh
Immediate Past Chair of the Board
L. Hunter Limbaugh is Immediate Past Chair of the Board of the American Diabetes Association, the nation's largest voluntary health organization leading the fight to Stop Diabetes®. He is also Southeastern Counsel for the Wine Institute, the trade association for California winegrowers.
Limbaugh has been an American Diabetes Association volunteer for the last 11 years, becoming an advocate for people with diabetes shortly after his daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2001. On the national level, he served as Chair of the Advocacy Committee and on a variety of other committees. He has also completed a previous term on the National Board of Directors. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association's Pinnacle Society—a recognition society representative of individuals who are providing significant contributions to the Association through major gifts.
Limbaugh is a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives and was Chief Legal Counsel for the Governor of South Carolina where he was responsible for oversight of all other attorneys in the executive branch of state government. He also assisted in the formulation and implementation of the Governor's executive policies, budget, and legislative agenda. Additionally, he conducted a General Civil Litigation Practice in Florence County, S.C., and worked in the State Attorney's Office and Office of the Public Defender for the 5th Judicial Circuit of Florida. He is a member of the South Carolina and Florida Bar Associations.
Limbaugh received his Bachelor of Arts from Stetson University and a Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Fla.
