Michael Julian Bond was elected in November 2009 to serve as the Post 1 At-Large City Council Member for the City of Atlanta. As a city-wide representative, Bond represents the more than 500,000 citizens of the City of Atlanta.

Bond previously served as the Deputy Director and Chief Programs Officer for the Atlanta Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

He has been an American Diabetes Association volunteer for 11 years having served nationally on the Community & Volunteer Development Committee, African American Project Team, Advocacy and Adult Strategies Committees. He is also an American Diabetes Association Research Foundation Ambassador. Locally, he is Past Chair and member of the Atlanta Community Leadership Board and he served as Chair of the American Diabetes Association's Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes event for three years.

Bond is a member of the American Diabetes Association's Pinnacle Society.
