The Banting Medal for Scientific Achievement Award is the Association’s highest scientific award and honors an individual who has made significant, long-term contributions to our understanding of diabetes, its treatment and/or prevention. The award is named after Nobel Prize winner Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin treatment for diabetes.This year's recipient is Barbara E. Corkey, PhD.

Kelly West Award for Outstanding Achievement in Epidemiology
Frederick L. Brancati, MD, MHS, FACP

The Kelly West Award for Outstanding Achievement in Epidemiology is given in memory of Kelly West, widely regarded as the “father of diabetes epidemiology.” Each year, the award is given to an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of diabetes epidemiology, including scientific publications and teaching experience. This year's recipient is Frederick L. Brancati, MD, MHS, FACP.

Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes Award

The Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes Award is presented to an individual who has made outstanding efforts in diabetes care and is recognized as a highly regarded clinician and educator with more than 10 years of distinguished service. This year's recipient is Jerry P. Palmer, MD.

Harold Rifkin Award for Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes
Rury Holman, FRCP

The Harold Rifkin Award for Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes honors individual outstanding service in the cause of diabetes that has been performed with an international perspective and with international impact.This year's recipient is Rury Holman, FRCP.

The Roger Pecoraro Lecture Award recognizes a researcher who has made scientific contributions and demonstrates an untiring commitment to improving the understanding of the detection, treatment, and prevention of diabetic foot complications. It is supported by an educational grant from Curative Health Services, ConvaTec, Ortho McNeil-Pharmaceuticals, and Sechrist Clinical Services.This year's recipient is Robert G. Frykberg, DPM, MPH.

Norbert Freinkel Lecture Award

The Norbert Freinkel Lecture Award is given in memory of Norbert Freinkel, a dedicated and insightful investigator as well as gifted writer, to honor a researcher who has made outstanding contributions, including scientific publications and presentations, to the understanding and treatment of diabetes and pregnancy. This year's recipient is Peter Damm, MD.
