National Scientific & Health Care Achievement Awards

   

There are seven Achievement Awards and four Interest Group Lecture Awards.

Banting Medal for Scientific Achievement Award
The highest scientific award bestowed by the Association to honor highly meritorious career achievements in the field of diabetes research.

Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award
In recognition of outstanding scientific achievement in the field of diabetes taking into consideration independence of thought and originality.

Albert Renold Award
Honoring an individual whose career is distinguished by outstanding achievements in the training and mentoring of diabetes research scientists.

Outstanding Educator in Diabetes Award
Presented to an individual to reward and acknowledge highly meritorious efforts by health professionals in the field of diabetes education.

Outstanding Physician-Clinician Award
Presented to an individual to reward and acknowledge outstanding achievements in improving diabetes clinical practice and care.

Harold Rifkin Award for Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes
Presented to an individual honoring outstanding service in the cause of diabetes that has been performed with international perspective and with international impact.

Kelly M. West Award for Outstanding Achievement in Epidemiology
Honoring an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of diabetes.

Interest Group Award Lectures

Behavioral Medicine and Psychology for Distinguished Contributions Award Lecture
In recognition of outstanding achievement and/or innovative contributions in the study and understanding of behavioral aspects of diabetes.

Edwin Bierman Award Lecture
In recognition of outstanding contribution in the field of macrovascular complications and the management and treatment of diabetes.

Norbert Freinkel Lecture Award
In recognition of outstanding contributions to the understanding and treatment of diabetes and pregnancy.

Roger E. Pecoraro Lecture
In recognition of significant and/or innovative scientific achievement in improving the understanding of detection, treatment and prevention of diabetic foot complications.
Award Criteria
See 2012 Awardee

In 2012, we are bestowing an additional, one-time award: The Samuel Rahbar Outstanding Discovery Award. This award is being given to Samuel Rahbar, MD, PhD and is awarded at the discretion of the National Medicine, Science and Health Care Awards Committee.
