Umesh Verma is the Secretary/Treasurer of the American Diabetes Association, which is leading the fight to Stop Diabetes® and its deadly consequences and advocating for those affected by diabetes.
Verma is Chief Executive Officer of BLUE LANCE, Inc., a global provider of cybersecurity governance solutions that help companies save time and money with information security risk assessments, auditing and compliance automation. The company's software solutions ensure data protection for banks, corporations, health care organizations, education institutions, retail outlets and government agencies in more than 40 countries.
In addition to founding BLUE LANCE, Verma set up Softec International, an off-shore software development and export facility in Mumbai, India, which he later successfully sold to Novell India. He started his software career as an Environmental Engineer at Brown & Root, and also worked at Shell Oil. A national leader in the area of emerging technologies, Verma serves on the Boards of the Houston Technology Center and The Center for Houston's Future, as well as on the University of Houston College of Technology Advisory Board and the Greater Houston Partnership and Greater Houston HealthConnect Boards.
Verma has served as Chair of the American Diabetes Association's Houston Community Leadership Board and on the Association’s Finance Committee.
He is a graduate of the Rice University Executive Management Certification Program in Finance & Accounting and Mergers & Acquisitions.
