American Diabetes Association and Georgetown University Report on Diabetes-Related Health Insurance Crisis

On February 8, 2005, “Falling Through the Cracks: Stories of How Health Insurance Can Fail People with Diabetes,” was released at a press briefing held at the Kaiser Family Foundation. The report, the result of a 14 month study, focuses on the barriers to obtaining accessible, affordable and adequate health insurance faced by Americans with diabetes.  The study includes more than 850 case studies from all 50 states and was funded by the American Diabetes Association, Commonwealth Fund, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

Report findings were presented in addition to a first-hand account of health insurance failures from a study participant.
