When you've built up to longer and more active workouts, keep
these hints in mind:
| |
Check your blood sugar before you exercise. If it's below
100, have a small carbohydrate (carb) snack such as fruit
or crackers before you start. |
| |
| |
If your fasting blood sugar is above 300, exercise can make
it go even higher. Talk with your health care team. |
| |
| |
Start slowly to warm up. Stretch your muscles. Slow down
to cool off before you stop. Stretch again to finish up. |
| |
| |
Wear your medical ID and other identification. |
| |
| |
Carry a carb source with you. Then you'll be ready to treat
low blood sugar if it happens. Glucose tablets or sugar packets
are easy to carry. |
| |
| |
Drink plenty of water before, during, and after exercise. |
