Millie asked her friend Alma how she lost weight. Alma said these ideas helped her cut calories.

Cut back on serving sizes instead of giving up favorite foods.
     
  Write down everything you eat and how much you eat. You can also keep an exercise record.
     
  Have a fruit or a vegetable every time you have a meal or a snack.
     
  Cook lower-fat versions of favorite recipes and have just 1 serving.
     
  Order the smallest size when eating out.
     
  Split entrees and desserts with family and friends when eating in restaurants. You’ll eat less and save money too. Or take some home for later.
     
  Buy single-serving sizes of snacks instead of the economy size so you aren’t tempted to eat more than you planned. You can make your own snack packs by putting crackers or pretzels in a bag.
