By providing inspiration, tools and resources, the Drive to Stop Diabetes® campaign strives to empower Americans with diabetes to persevere and actively manage their disease so they can still live well. Drive to Stop Diabetes is presented by Lilly Diabetes in collaboration with the American Diabetes Association® and Ryan's Mission, Ryan Reed's nonprofit organization.

The face of this campaign is none other than NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Ryan Reed, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 17. Despite his diagnosis, Ryan was able to realize his dream of becoming a professional race car driver just a few short years later by working closely with his doctor to manage his diabetes with proper nutrition and treatment.
Just as his racing career was reaching new heights, Ryan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and told he would never race again. Determined to continue on, Ryan found Anne Peters, MD, of the USC Clinical Diabetes Program, who confirmed that with hard work, he could still reach his dreams. Ryan is driven to be a role model for the diabetes community. His nonprofit organization, Ryan's Mission, aims to raise awareness and empower others to get involved in this important fight and take steps to live an active, healthy life.
"In 2011 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and was told I would never race again. By working with my doctor and adopting healthy habits, I have been able to follow my dreams — and you can too! Taking Ryan's Challenge means taking care of yourself, talking with your doctor about diabetes management and reaching out to family and friends for encouragement and support.
