Dr. Kermit Smith, TLDC Co-Chair Now we know we can prevent type 2 diabetes. It's true! We have each made a commitment to do our best to ensure that everyone has access to quality care, prevention, and treatment.
Buford Rolin, Poarch Band of Creek Indian The key to winning the battle over diabetes is for some of us to be role models. I walk four times a week for two miles. I watch what I eat. I can manage my diabetes. Some people call me a role model. I want to make a difference in other people's lives. That is what I call success.
Eli Hunt, Leach Lake Band of Ojibwe
As chairman of my tribe, my days can get busy, but I always walk three miles every day. I have diabetes and walking helps me stay alert at my job. It helps me have a good attitude.
