American Diabetes Association-Takeda Beta Cell in Diabetes Postdoctoral Fellowship Award


Award Description: These awards are granted to established diabetes investigators to support the training of scientists in an environment most conducive to beginning a career in diabetes research and beta cell biology.

Support: Awards are $45,000 a year for up to two years.

Deadline Dates: January 15, 2009 for July 1, 2009 funding. Please note: Funding is not available for this award in 2008.

American Diabetes Association-Takeda Pharmaceuticals Cardiovascular Complications in Diabetes Postdoctoral Fellowship Award


Award Description: These awards are granted to established diabetes investigators to support a postdoctoral fellow being trained in the area of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Support: Awards are $45,000 a year for up to two years.

Mentor-Based Postdoctoral Fellowship


Award Description: These awards are granted to established diabetes investigators to support a postdoctoral fellow.

Mentor-Based Minority Postdoctoral Fellowship


Award Description: These awards support minority postdoctoral fellows working with established diabetes investigators. Only current ADA award holders are eligible to apply.

Support: Awards are $45,000 a year for one year (renewable).

Deadline Date: January 15, 2008 for July 1, 2008 funding. Please note: January funding is not currently available for this award.

Clinical Scientist Training Award


Award Description: This award supports MD, PharmD, DPM or DPO students who are working on joint degrees. Eligible applicants are pursuing a dual degree in medicine, pharmacology, osteopathy or podiatric medicine and a research-oriented PhD, Master in Clinical Research, or Master of Public Health degree.

Support: Awards are $30,000 a year for up to three years. Applicants may request up to $20,000 for the student’s stipend and up to $10,000 for tuition and lab expenses.

Clinical  Scholars Award


Award Description: These awards provide one year of research support to medical students interested in clinical and basic science diabetes research.  Those working on an M.D., Pharm.D., or D.O. are eligible. 

Support: Awards are $30,000 a year for one year. Applicants may request up to $20,000 for the student’s stipend and up to $10,000 for tuition and lab expenses.

Deadline Date: January 15, 2008 for July 1, 2008 funding. Please note: January funding is currently not available for this award

Minority Undergraduate Internship


Internship Description: Current ADA award holders are eligible to apply for a $3,000 stipend for a minority undergraduate intern to train in their laboratory or clinical setting.  Eligible minorities include: African American, Spanish, Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaskan Native, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.
