Banting Circle Supporters

   

Our thanks go to the Banting Circle Supporters for joining the American Diabetes Association in the fight to stop diabetes. The following information profiles how these companies support the efforts of the Association to advance the fight against diabetes and improve the lives of those affected by diabetes.


Banting Circle Elite 2012

Abbott Logo Abbott Laboratories and Abbott Diabetes Care provides in-kind supplies to the Association’s Diabetes Camp Program, and additionally provided support of multiple events throughout the country, including Father of The Year events and Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. The Abbott Fund provided support for the MOVE Together program that was launched at North Chicago High School by the Association along with the Chicago Bulls. This evidence-based nutrition and fitness program is geared toward changing behaviors and reducing the rate of obesity. Abbott also conducted a companywide Employee Giving Program in which they matched donations given to the Association.


Amylin Logo Amylin Pharmaceuticals continues their support of the Distinguished Clinical Scientist Award (DCSA), the Association’s largest annual award that recognizes outstanding scientists who have advanced the field of patient-oriented diabetes research. In addition, Amylin is helping the Association to support a study of adherence in diabetes patients, which is being conducted to understand those factors which influence successful diabetes management. 


Lilly Logo Eli Lilly is a national sponsor of Tour de Cure. The company supports the American Diabetes Association’s Wisdom Kits given to families of children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. They also provide annual financial support to families needing economic assistance to attend Camp programs. Lilly sponsors the Outstanding Educator and Outstanding Scientific Achievement awards at the Association’s Scientific Sessions, the largest diabetes meeting in the world. Lilly is a sponsor of the Association’s Living With Type 2 Diabetes initiative for newly diagnosed patients. Through the Eli Lilly & Company Foundation, the company is a founding sponsor of Pathway To Stop Diabetes, a research program designed to find the next generation of diabetes researchers.


Merck Logo Merck & Company supports diabetes research through the American Diabetes Association-Merck Clinical/Translational Science Postdoctoral Fellowship awards. Merck is a Patron sponsor of the Association’s Scientific Sessions, the world’s largest meeting in diabetes, and supported two awards: the Renold Award, given for achievement in diabetes research, and the Kelly West Award, which is awarded for excellence in the field of diabetes epidemiology. Merck was also a supporter of the annual American Diabetes Association Health Disparities Forum, an annual gathering in Washington, D.C. to look at solutions to address diabetes care in high-risk populations with key focus on cultural competency, health literacy and health equity.


Novo Nordisk Novo Nordisk is the National Premier Sponsor of Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. As a National Red Strider sponsor of Step Out, the company is encouraging people with diabetes to become more active and healthy. Novo Nordisk supports research efforts through the American Diabetes Association-Novo Nordisk Research Award In Neurohormonal Control of Metabolism and the American Diabetes Association- Novo Nordisk Award In Diabetes and Hypoglycemia. The company also provides grant support for the Association's legal advocacy platform, enabling the Association to assist those with diabetes to ensure their legal protections and prevent discrimination. The company is a founding sponsor of Pathway To Stop Diabetes, a research program designed to find the next generation of diabetes researchers.


Sanofi New Logo

Sanofi is the official sponsor for the Dribble to Stop Diabetes campaign, an alliance between the National Basketball Association, the Women’s National Basketball Association, the NBA Development League and the American Diabetes Association. This program, under the NBA FIT umbrella, reaches consumers, health professionals, and millions of NBA and WNBA fans across the country to promoting healthy, active lifestyles and ways to prevent diabetes.

Sanofi supports the American Diabetes Association by providing research funding to better understand clinical interventions leading to improvements in diabetes care delivery. The company is a founding sponsor of Pathway To Stop Diabetes, a research program designed to find the next generation of diabetes researchers.


2012 Banting Circle

BD Diabetes Care Logo BD Medical- Diabetes Care supports and provides supplies to the American Diabetes Association’s Diabetes Camp Program, which focuses on diabetes management and education for children living with diabetes. In addition, BD supports local community events across the country and has formed national employee teams for Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes and Tour de Cure.


Boehringer IngelheimBoehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals is a sponsor of the Association’s Living with Type 2 Diabetes program. The company supported the Association’s Live Empowered program in 2012 to educate the African-American community about healthier living. This company is a Patron sponsor of the American Diabetes Association’s Scientific Sessions, the largest diabetes meeting in the world.


LifeScan LogoLifeScan supported the American Diabetes Association in a variety of ways in 2012. The company made available blood glucose meters to all Association Diabetes Camps when needed in order to comply with new CDC patient safety requirements. The company also supported Stop Diabetes Advocacy Day, a grass roots campaign to help train Association volunteers in advocating for diabetes with their elected representatives. LifeScan was also a major supporter of the annual American Diabetes Association Health Disparities Forum, an annual gathering in Washington, D.C. to look at solutions to address diabetes care in high-risk populations with a key focus on cultural competency, health literacy and health equity. The company helps lead one of the largest nationwide teams in Tour de Cure.
