Money raised through Walgreens’ in-store fundraising activities supports the expanded distribution of patient education materials, community events in select markets that are designed to help those at highest risk for diabetes become aware and take action to Stop Diabetes before it starts and the development of a new national public service campaign to promote consumer awareness about the seriousness of diabetes and its risk factors. In addition, the company is a National Sponsor of the Association's signature event, Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes and employees across the country also participate in the annual fundraising campaign. The Association is one of the company's partner charities within “Walgreens Way to Well Commitment™" – a four year, $100 million health and wellness initiative.
The Walmart Foundation is a major supporter of the American Diabetes Association’s movement to Stop Diabetes. This year, the Foundation awarded the Association with a $1 million grant to fund our Living With Type 2 Diabetes program which offers help, hope and support to people newly diagnosed with diabetes. This grant reinforces Walmart’s commitment to improving the lives of individuals in local communities.
