Assess Your Environment

Your surroundings affect your health and your weight. Think about your home, your workplace, and the neighborhood you live in.

We are simply surrounded by food. It is a part of holiday celebrations, events at work, and visits with friends and family. Some of us also have the habit of eating in front of the TV or the computer. Most advertisements we see are for unhealthy, highly-processed foods or fast food. Do you see how your environment might discourage healthy eating and physical activity?

Some things you have a lot of control over – like the foods you buy and keep in your home. Others you have much less control over, like whether or not your neighborhood is safe for walking outside.

Take note of the environment you live in and see how it affects the lifestyle choices that you make every day.
