Insights into New Mechanisms and New Therapeutic Targets

March 17-19, 2006
Hyatt Regency Cambridge
Cambridge, Massachusetts

The webcasts of the general sessions of the AGE Research Symposium are now available. View session webcasts from this activity.

Overview

The American Diabetes Association invites you to attend a research symposium on advanced glycation end products and diabetic complications. In addition to original research presented during a poster session, this activity will focus on the emerging science and clinical implications of new mechanisms and new therapeutic targets. Overall the presentations will highlight the role of chemistry and biological properties of advanced glycation end products (AGE), effects of internal/external AGE, and new therapies.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for scientists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals with an interest in the role of glycation and diabetes. It will provide a valuable opportunity for collaboration with other investigators in the field.

Learner Objectives

  • Review new insights into the role of advanced glycation in diabetes and diabetic complications
  • Examine advanced glycation as a new means for early detection and effective prevention and/or treatment of diabetes and its complications
  • Integrate new scientific knowledge into clinical practice and treatment of persons with diabetes and its complications

Accreditation And Continuing Education Credits

Physicians: The American Diabetes Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The American Diabetes Association designates this continuing medical activity for a maximum of 15.0 hours in Category 1 credit towards the American Medical Association's Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit he/she has spent in the educational activity.
