Overview

The Immunology of Diabetes Society and the American Diabetes Association invite you to attend this conference scheduled for November 14-18, 2007 at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel in Florida, USA. In addition to original research presented during poster sessions, the following topics will be addressed in workshops and lecture presentations: autoantibody markers for type 1 diabetes; cellular immune markers for type 1 diabetes; animal models of type 1 diabetes; the pancreas in type 1 diabetes; genetics of type 1 diabetes; the role of toll-like receptors and innate immunity in type 1 diabetes; cell-based therapies for type 1 diabetes; environmental and mechanistic causes of type 1 diabetes; mechanisms of beta-cell death; role of the immune response in type 1 diabetes; and islet transplantation.

Target Audience

The sessions offered at the conference have been designed specifically for physicians and scientists with an interest in research in the field of immunology as it relates to diabetes.

Accreditation and Continuing Education Credit

No continuing education credit will be awarded for this activity.

Call For Abstracts

Download the Abstract Submission Form (Adobe PDF document). The deadline for abstract submission is July 2, 2007.

The program has also been designed to include both oral and poster presentations. The presenting author of selected abstracts will be notified by late August 2007.

Ten of the abstracts selected for oral presentation will be awarded travel grants of $1,000 USD. The grants will be awarded to young investigators who: 1) must be presenting authors, and 2) who must be graduate students or postdoctoral fellows. Only one grant will be awarded to a laboratory. A letter of support from the young investigator's mentor must be submitted with the abstract in order to be considered for a grant.
