ADA and Latino Health Advocacy


The Association is compiling a network of professional members who are interested in helping on legal advocacy issues. You are needed to:

  • help decision makers understand diabetes
  • consult with lawyers who are trying to understand medical issues of a case
  • appear as expert witnesses
  • provide medical expertise in drafting legislation

Government Relations & Advocacy at the American Diabetes Association works to improve access to quality care, eliminate discrimination against people because of their diabetes, and make sure the federal government is adequately funding diabetes research and programs.

The American Diabetes Association relies on its advocates to fight for

  • Increased federal funding for diabetes research and prevention
  • Improved health care and insurance coverage
  • An end to discrimination based on a person's diabetes
