Diabetes Animations for Use in Presentations

These clips, available for download as WMV files, have been adapted from the Association's Link for Life animation on diabetes. These files can be incorporated into presentations for community groups, diabetes support groups and other educational activities.

Continuing Education Library
The American Diabetes Association conducts professional education activities in support of its overall mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. The CE Library is a compendium of all ADA online continuing education opportunities.

Make the Link! Diabetes, Heart Disease and Stroke
Through our initiative, "Make the Link! Diabetes, Heart Disease and Stroke," we are urging health care providers to talk to their patients about the link between diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Help your patients make the link by talking to them about managing the ABCs of Diabetes, and other ways to reduce their risk for heart disease and stroke. This section contains resources specifically for the health care team.

The Cardiometabolic Risk Initiative - Moving Beyond the Metabolic Syndrome
The Cardiometabolic Risk Initiative is the American Diabetes Association's new campaign to raise awareness about the many risk factors that can influence overall health, including obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes.

The World Health Organization's Report -- Preventing Chronic Diseases: A Vital Investment (PDF)
The report makes the case for urgent action in countries all over the world to halt and turn back the growing threat of chronic diseases, and dispels the long-held misunderstandings about heart disease, stroke, cancer and other chronic diseases.

Patient Education Resources

Do you work with patients at risk for type 2 diabetes? The American Diabetes Association has developed materials you can use with your patients to help them prevent the onset of, and improve the management of type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes and CVD Toolkit
This kit contains reproducible patient education handouts to use in your practice.

Weight Loss Matters
The American Diabetes Association and Abbott Laboratories have developed the Weight Loss Matters initiative to increase awareness of the link between diabetes and obesity. Brochures and monthly tip sheets on weight loss are available for health care providers in need of tools that will help their patients lose weight and prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes.

Children and type 2 diabetes
An increasing number of children and adolescents in the United States are being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. New, colorful posters that encourage type 2 adults to look for type 2 warning signs in children are available for download in PDF format. Posters will soon be available in print through the online store.
