As a way of engaging with the Chicago community, the Association will reach out to hospitality employees of the Hyatt Regency Chicago, and other participating hotels, to educate them about diabetes prevention and management.
There will be six interactive educational events, which are supported by Sanofi, and each will include information about diabetes, a discussion about how to improve nutrition and a cooking demonstration to show ways to eat healthy. To date, over 275 hospitality workers will be in attendance at the events.

Hyatt Regency Chicago
Educational Event: 2 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Press conference: 3 p.m.
WHO: The American Diabetes Association is leading the fight to Stop Diabetes® and its deadly consequences and fighting for those affected by diabetes. The Association funds research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes; delivers services to hundreds of communities; provides objective and credible information; and gives voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes. Founded in 1940, our mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
WHY: Diabetes is a serious disease that strikes nearly 26 million children and adults in the United States. A quarter of those with diabetes – seven million – do not even know they have it. An additional 79 million, or one in three American adults, have prediabetes, which puts them at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Recent estimates project that as many as one in three American adults will have diabetes in 2050 unless we take steps to Stop Diabetes.
