Meet Justin Harris, |

He is the American Diabetes Association's National Youth Advocate, and he wants to make a difference for all children with diabetes.
He has done all this while also being an honor roll student and competitive tennis player. Justin has always wanted to make a difference. As the 2006-2007 National Youth Advocate, Justin has some big goals: He wants to educate the public about diabetes and urge them to take part in the fight against the disease. And ultimately, Justin one day hopes that his efforts and the efforts of millions of others will lead to a cure for diabetes. Justin wants everyone -- youth and adults, alike -- to know that they have the power to make a difference. One of Justin's greatest passions is traveling around the country meeting other young people with diabetes, and talking with them about their experiences with this disease.
"I'm excited to serve as a spokesperson for the ADA. I hope to meet with policy makers around the country to promote increased funding for diabetes research and prevention, and to reach out to young people and adults to encourage them to become involved in the fight against diabetes," Justin says.
Justin keeps a journal about the events he attends, and the journal is posted to his Youth Advocate page at diabetes.org/youthadvocate. Throughout the year, he will also answer emails and participate on message boards for all ages.
Justin's parents are Dave and Jennifer.
