Family Resource NetworkThe American Diabetes Association's Family Resource Network (FRN) works to connect you with other families dealing with diabetes. The FRN is run in your community by parent volunteers and provides information, services, programs, and special events for children of all ages with diabetes and their families. The FRN is here for you, your child, health care providers, schools, communities, and all families living with diabetes. We have 19 FRNs.
To contact the FRN near you, call us at 1-888-DIABETES (342-2383). If you'd like information about starting an FRN in your community, please email FRN@diabetes.org. FRN volunteers are here in your community, ready to listen and offer encouragement and support. Three Areas of Focus
The Family Link Program It's tough dealing with diabetes and it's even harder when you feel alone. Talking with another parent who is dealing with the same things you're going through can help. You can talk to someone who knows about nighttime lows, school diabetes care, or the special concerns involved in having an infant, toddler, or teen with diabetes. Call your local Family Resource Network (FRN) and let us connect with you with other families dealing with diabetes. Education When someone close to you has diabetes, every single day can be a new challenge. But knowledge is power. The more you know, the better you and your child can manage diabetes and not be managed by it. The FRN can provide the diabetes education you need. Social Events Your local FRN hosts opportunities for children, families, and friends to get together, have fun, and get to know each other. Picnics, parties, movie nights, bowling -- join in the fun and get to know other families dealing with diabetes. Together we can all make a difference. Additional Materials
