American Diabetes Association Camp

About the Camp

ADA Diabetes Camp is held at Camp Soles, a 263 acre YMCA resident camp in the Laurel Highland Mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania (about 65 miles south of Pittsburgh).

Camp Soles is accredited by the American Camp Association and has an 18 acre man-made lake, Lake Tris, ideal for swimming, canoeing, kayaking and sailing. The campgrounds also have:

  • camper cabins
  • staff lodging
  • Shaw Lodge
  • a rustic dining hall
  • recreational hall
  • climbing wall
  • ball fields
  • basketball and volleyball courts
  • arts & crafts center
  • nature hike paths

Management is provided by a highly competent staff of pediatric physicians, pediatric certified diabetes nurse educators, dietitians, and counselors. Medical staff and counselors strive to make the "home away from home" camp experience one which teaches techniques for managing nutrition, exercise and medications. On-site medical staff will evaluate each child’s medical status, dietary intake and daily activities. Dietitians have carefully planned meals and snacks to provide optimal nutritional quality and camper appeal.

The recreational activities, food service, and some camper supervision support for the American Diabetes Association's Diabetes Camp program are provided under contract by Camp Soles.

Boys Registration is Full - Girls Registration Still Open

Camp registration for boys is now full, however, we are still accepting applications for our waitlist. To be added to the waitlist for possible openings, please complete the online application. You must select a payment option in order for the application to be submitted. Select "Pay Entire Balance by Check" but do not mail a check. If space becomes available, you will be contacted and payment can be made at that time.
