Camp Planet D - Full Session
About the Camp
The American Diabetes Association's residential camp program for children with diabetes is held at the Tall Oaks Conference Center property which is owned and operated by the Christian Church of Greater Kansas City. Camp offers children with diabetes the opportunity to learn how to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle while managing their diabetes. At Camp Planet D, children are surrounded by people who face the same challenge of living with diabetes, from fellow campers to adult staff members. Camp activities feature swimming, horseback riding, outdoor skills, volleyball, basketball, archery and tons of other fun activities, plus a few surprises! Scholarships are available.
The American Diabetes Association is committed to providing educational information and referral services for children with diabetes and their families, advocating for fair and quality treatment of children with diabetes in schools, and increasing federal funding for diabetes research.

The true cost for a camper to attend is $1,400 but families pay as little as $385 per camper. Need help paying for camp? Financial Assistance is available, excluding the $50 non-refundable deposit. Please complete the online camper application and at the very end download and print the Financial Aid application.

Camp Discount Program
Participate in one of the American Diabetes Association fund-raising events in 2015 and save money on camp!
SAVE on your camp fees by fundraising for the Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes event. For every $100 you raise for your child's walk team, you receive $10 off your camp fees for the next year! 10% of your overall walk team fundraising will be discounted towards camp fees. (This does not include the mandatory $50 deposit.)
Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes will take place again at Theis Park on Saturday, September 17, 2016. We look forward to seeing you there!
Please note, participating in Step Out does not guarantee your child's placement in Camp. All standard rules and guidelines for enrolling in Camp apply. The American Diabetes Association reserves the right to refuse admission to any camper in American Diabetes Association's sole discretion. Acceptance confirmation will be sent after medical staff review each child’s application to ensure we can meet their needs.
Online registration is the easiest and fastest way to register for camp this year! If you cannot apply online, there is an offline option.

Step 2: Within a few weeks, you will receive a Camp Application packet. Due to limited space, it is important to mail the completed Application and remaining payments as soon as possible.
All American Diabetes Association campers and staff at 2016 Diabetes Camps are required to be up to date on immunizations. More information can be found in the Camp application and supplemental forms. For questions, contact your local American Diabetes Association office.
