Camp Sioux - Session 2
About the Camp
The purpose of Camp Sioux is to provide a fun and safe camping experience for children living with diabetes. We want to give kids the opportunity to meet other kids just like them as well as help them gain confidence and independence in managing their diabetes.
Camp Sioux is held at Park River Bible Camp in Park River, North Dakota. Facilities include: a 24 hour health center, dining hall, crafts barn, pool, nature trails, basketball and 4-square courts, soccer fields, archery range, high ropes course and a gaga pit. (If you don't know what a gaga pit is you'll just have to come to camp and find out!)
Family Contribution (Camp Fee):
• Ages 8 to 11: $150
• Ages 12 to 15: $170
• Camper Sampler: $100
Ages: 16 to 17 years. Previous camp experience not required.
CIT Fee: No fee
Time Commitment: The CIT program is a one week commitment with two days of training before camp begins. You are required to stay on camp property for the duration of camp.
The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program was created as a transitional stage from camper to staff. CIT's are expected to display responsibility, maturity and a positive attitude. They are a highly visible group amongst campers and are often looked up to as role models. CIT's are given the opportunity to assist counselors with cabin groups and prepares them for a future camp counselor position.
Applicants are selected based upon completion of an application, personal references and interview. For more information, please contact Becky Barnett, Camp Director at firstname.lastname@example.org or 763-593-5333 ext. 6596.
Only inquiries from CIT applicants will be responded to. Sorry no parents!
