Camp Sugar Falls
About the Camp
Each summer, the American Diabetes Association's Camp Sugar Falls provides children with diabetes in the mid-Tennessee area a special place to play, laugh, share and learn about diabetes management. Camp Sugar Falls is a day-camp experience for children ages 6 to 12 that have been diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The camp offers an exciting week of recreational and educational activities that focus on nutrition, lifestyle habits, self-esteem and team building.
Camp Sugar Falls takes place at the YMCA's Camp Widjiwagan in Antioch, TN, which is located on 320 acres of land with 4 miles of shore line on J. Percy Priest Lake. Parents can be confident in knowing that our elite medical team will be overseeing your child's medical needs.
Since Camp Sugar Falls first began 33 years ago, our main priority has been your child's health and well being. For your convenience, the YMCA will offer several locations for bus pick-up and return; when you register online, please mark the transportation box and a list of the locations will be included in the registration confirmation email.
Priority will be given to newly diagnosed campers but we invite all our returning campers to apply and will do all we can to accomodate everyone.

More Information About the Camp
Based on available space, siblings are allowed to join their brother or sister with diabetes. Siblings must complete the same online camper application. Parents will be notified if siblings have been accepted to camp.
NEW/IMPORTANT: Any sibling campers who are in the age range to qualify as a CIT (counselor in training - ages 13-17) BUT are first time campers MAY NOT serve as CITs until they attend for a second year. We are working to correct this option online at this time.
All American Diabetes Association campers and staff at 2016 Diabetes Camps are required to be up to date on immunizations. More information can be found in the Camp application and supplemental forms. For questions, contact your local American Diabetes Association office.
The current schedule (2016 update coming soon) can be found at www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/easy-to-read/. Please note that the HPV vaccine is not required for Camp.
