The Grand Tasting Area is a multilayered world class sampling of appealing Diabetes-friendly foods created and served by Novo Nordisk Diabetes Education Program Celebrity Chefs. Each chef will be paired with a Novo Nordisk Diabetes Educator delivering an educational message surrounding healthy eating and meal planning. Healthy eating does not have to be boring but vibrant, full of life and flavor! Another addition to the EXPO this year is a hands-on Oral Health and Diabetes Education Area presented by Delta Dental.
Pre-register for the EXPO and be entered in a drawing to win a meet and greet in the Grand Tasting Area with Celebrity Chefs.
The most celebrated player to ever put on an Atlanta Hawks uniform, Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins is also the Hawks' Vice President of Basketball. Wilkins works in various management functions within the Hawks’ basketball and business areas and is the team’s analyst for the Hawks broadcast networks. Dominique’s passion extends beyond basketball. His true calling came from an unexpected diagnosis of type 2 diabetes at the age of 40 – not long after he retired from the National Basketball Association (NBA). After losing his grandfather and father to diabetes, Wilkins decided early on that he was going to do everything possible to better manage his diabetes and encourage others to do the same. NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) driver Ryan Reed is the ambassador and spokesperson for Drive to Stop Diabetes, a diabetes awareness initiative with the American Diabetes Association and Lilly Diabetes. Reed, who has raced since the age of four, was diagnosed at the age of 17 with type 1 diabetes and was told that he would never be able to race again. Once he learned more about diabetes and its widespread impact, he decided to become an advocate for diabetes awareness, starting his own foundation, Ryan’s Mission, to educate people about the disease. Check out Ryan's racecar when you visit the EXPO!
