Texans are increasingly feeling the effects of diabetes as over 1.8 million people suffer from the disease, and thousands may have diabetes and not know it! It is the sixth leading cause of death in the state of Texas, and the fourth leading cause of death among the African-American and Hispanic communities in Texas.

That is why the American Diabetes Association's Austin office is so committed to educating the public about how to stop diabetes and to support those living with the disease. We provide information and resources to 26 counties in the Central Texas region, having a combined population of approximately 2.8 million people.

Reunion Ranch

A ride, not a race, Tour de Cure is designed for everyone from the occasional rider to the experienced cyclist. In 2011, more than 55,000 cyclists in 80 events raised more than $18 million to support our mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes®Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes®

Saturday, November 2, 2013!

The signature fundraising walk of the American Diabetes Association, Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes has been taking place for more than 20 years and has raised more than $175 million to Stop Diabetes

School Walk for DiabetesSchool Walk for Diabetes

School Walk for Diabetes is a year-round educational fundraising event offered to all schools in the Central Texas area by the American Diabetes Association. The event teaches children and adults the benefits of eating healthy and staying active while helping those in the community whose lives are affected by diabetes.

Health Fairs/Speaking Engagements

We focus on community outreach by attending local health fairs and various events to raise public awareness about the prevalence of diabetes. The Speakers Bureau is a network of dedicated advocates in place to aide the Association in achieving its mission through speaking engagements and lunch & learns within the community. The Bureau is comprised of volunteers, medical professionals, health care providers, community leaders and more, all providing a broad range of backgrounds and experiences to facilitate both public and professional accessibility.
