Texans are increasingly feeling the effects of diabetes as over 1.8 million people suffer from the disease, and thousands may have diabetes and not know it! It is the sixth leading cause of death in the state of Texas, and the fourth leading cause of death among the African-American and Hispanic communities in Texas.
That is why the American Diabetes Association's Austin office is so committed to educating the public about how to stop diabetes and to support those living with the disease. We provide information and resources to 26 counties in the Central Texas region, having a combined population of approximately 2.8 million people.

We are always looking for fun and exciting ways to engage the community. For information on the events we attend and host each year, please see the calendar listing below.

In 2011, more than 55,000 cyclists in 80 events raised more than $18 million to support our mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
