Texans are increasingly feeling the effects of diabetes as over 1.8 million people suffer from the disease, and thousands may have diabetes and not know it! It is the sixth leading cause of death in the state of Texas, and the fourth leading cause of death among the African-American and Hispanic communities in Texas.

That is why the American Diabetes Association's Austin office is so committed to educating the public about how to stop diabetes and support those living with the disease. We provide resources to 26 counties in the Central Texas region, having a combined population of approximately 2.8 million people.

To learn more about the burden of diabetes in Texas, download a report produced by the Texas Diabetes Council in 2008.

We are always looking for fun and exciting ways to engage the community. For information on the events we attend and host each year, please see the calendar listing below.

More than 250 participants gathered together at the Oasis on Lake Travis for the black-tie Masquerade gala. This is one event where lifetime advocates, new supporters, corporations and individuals alike, come together to celebrate the gift of giving.
