Jerry the Bear

UMass Memorial University Campus, 55 Lake Avenue North, Worcester, MA
Family Link and UMass Memorial Family Diabetes Network have organized an event for children 7 years and younger with Jerry the Bear. Jerry is a teddy bear an organizational tool used to teach children how to manage their blood glucose levels using an insulin pump, recognize symptoms of highs and lows, and maintain a healthy diet. While children play with Jerry, parents will participate in a discussion about dealing with the challenges of this age group related to diabetes.
Boston Sports Club Event
Sunday, January 12, 2014 — 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Boston Sports Club, 840 Winter Street, Waltham, MA
This is an event for children and teenagers to meet other individuals their age with diabetes. There will be ice breakers and sports activities for participants while their parents have an opportunity to learn about Camp Carefree.
Sunday, January 26, 2014 — 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Family Ice Center, 20 Hat Trick Drive, Falmouth, ME
This fun family event provides an opporunity for families to ice skate together in addition to joining an open discussion about the emotional highs and lows of diabetes.
Sunday, February 9, 2014 — 10:00 a.m. to Noon
4 Lowell Road, North Reading, MA
Children with diabetes at this event will paint plates to be auctioned off at the American DIabetes Association's Father of the Year Awards Dinner - an event which brings in over $300,000 to benefit programs for people with diabetes and diabetes research.
