Over 26.8 million Americans suffer from diabetes. People in New Jersey are increasingly feeling the effects of diabetes as approximately 800,000 New Jerseyans battle diabetes and prediabetes every day. Many of them don't even know it! It is estimated that one in three Americans will have diabetes by the year 2050, if current trends continue.
The American Diabetes Association's New Jersey's office is dedicated to ensuring the before mentioned statistic does not become a reality by raising funds for research, programing and adovacy. The NJ office is committed to educating the public about how to stop diabetes and support those living with the disease through our many fundraising events. Meet Caryn Sacharou. Caryn is a young woman who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2001. Lately, she has been coming up on the short of end of the stick and has had a stroke, two toes and her leg amputated. In an effort to help all those who suffer from diabetes, she has created "Diabeades Bracelets." $1 of every sale will be donated to the American Diabetes Association.

Tour de Cure
The Tour de Cure is a series of fundraising cycling events held in 43 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Last year, more than 50,000 cyclists in 80 Tour events raised nearly $17 million to support the mission of the Association.
With three sites, riders from the Tour de Cure of New Jersey join together to fight for their health and the health of their loved ones. From novice to professional, there is a route for everyone. Sites for 2012 include: Basking Ridge and Princeton in June, and Jersey Shore in September.

Driving Fore the Cure
The NJ Association office will be hosting its 25th Annual Driving Fore the Cure golf tournament on Monday, June 25th at the Cherry Valley Country Club in Skillman, New Jersey. Driving Fore the Cure is the Association's signature golf event involving participants throughout the tri-state area who join together in raising funds that help further the Association’s mission.

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes
Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes is a fundraising campaign and family friendly event held in five sites in NJ and PA. The Step Out campaign is one of the Association’s largest fundraisers of the year to support type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Sign up online and start fundraising now, then join us this fall at one of our fun-filled walks to celebrate your part in helping us exceed our $680,000 fundraising goal for 2012!
