American Diabetes Month
One of the American Diabetes Association's primary objectives is to raise awareness and understanding of diabetes, its consequences, management and prevention of type 2 diabetes. American Diabetes Month (ADM) is an important element in this effort, with programs designed to focus the nation’s attention on the issues surrounding diabetes and the people impacted by the disease.
Help us build the true picture of diabetes
During American Diabetes Month 2013, the Association encourages American's to share "A Day in the Life of Diabetes" by submitting a personal image to the Association's Facebook mosaic to show what the daily life of diabetes means to them. The images will then make up a larger mosaic image that will embody the message of "A Day in the Life of Diabetes." It is time to come together as a community to Stop Diabetes®!
Learn more about how you can share your personal image during American Diabetes Month and find out more information, visit us at www.diabetesmosaic.org.
Is your organization hosting a screening, health fair or educational event for the public during American Diabetes Month in November? Let us know! Contact Jackie Ross at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to our website and be sent an American Diabetes Month kit full of educational materials for your event. Or visit our website for free downloadable materials and resources on American Diabetes Month at diabetes.org/adm.

Will you join the fight to Stop Diabetes?
November 14 of each year has been declared Diabetes Awareness Day in Illinois. This law, passed earlier this year due to the efforts of House Republican Tom Cross and the Illinois Diabetes Caucus, will help in reaching a broader audience in Illinois and educating them about the importance of diabetes prevention and learning the signs and symptoms of this disease. Visit the Illinois Diabetes Caucus website to find out more about what laws are affecting those living with diabetes in Illinois at www.ilgadiabetes.com.
