American Diabetes Month

American Diabetes Month - American Diabetes Association American Diabetes Association Logo

The vision of the American Diabetes Association is a life free of diabetes and all of its burdens. Raising awareness of this ever-growing disease is one of the main efforts behind the mission of the Association. American Diabetes Month (ADM) is an important element in this effort, with programs designed to focus the nation’s attention on the issues surrounding diabetes and the many people who are impacted by the disease.

During American Diabetes Month 2012, the Association encourages Americans to share “A Day in the Life of Diabetes” by uploading a personal image on our Facebook page to show what the daily life of diabetes means to them. For every photo/image uploaded, CVS/pharmacy will donate $1.00 to the American Diabetes Association, up to $25,000.

Learn more on how you can share your personal image and story during American Diabetes Month by visiting us at facebook.com/AmericanDiabetesAssociation, stopdiabetes.com or by calling 1-800-DIABETES.

Visit Walgreens and help Stop Diabetes!
Beginning on November 14, all area Walgreens stores will be accepting donations on behalf of the American Diabetes Association. Walgreens will also continue to support CheckUp America, the Association's type 2 diabetes prevention initiative designed to identify and educate those at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Please visit walgreens.com or contact your local Association office for more information.

Will you join the fight to Stop Diabetes?
November 14th of each year has been declared Diabetes Awareness Day in Illinois. This law, passed earlier this year due to the efforts of House Republican Tom Cross and the Illinois Diabetes Caucus, will help in reaching a broader audience in Illinois and educating them about the importance of diabetes prevention and learning the signs and symptoms of this disease. Visit the Illinois Diabetes Caucus website to find out more about what laws are affecting those living with diabetes in Illinois at http://www.ilgadiabetes.com/.

Have American Diabetes Month proclaimed in your city!
Contact Jackie Ross at JRoss@diabetes.org to be sent a template email to send to your mayor to proclaim ADM in your city and help raise awareness about diabetes in your community.
