Over 26.8 million Americans are affected by diabetes. People in South Texas are increasingly feeling the effects of diabetes as approximately 86,000 people in the Coastal Bend battle diabetes and prediabetes every day. Many of them don't even know it! It is estimated that one in three Americans will have diabetes by the year 2050, if current trends continue.

The American Diabetes Association's Corpus Christi office is dedicated to ensuring the before mentioned statistic does not become a reality by raising funds for research, programing and advocacy. The CC office is committed to educating the public about how to stop diabetesand support those living with the disease through our many fundraising events.

Camp Sandcastle
July 7 - 11, 2013

Camp Sandcastle is about to begin it's 21st year in the Coastal Bend! Camp Sandcastle is our day camp for children with type 1 diabetes, ages 5 to 14. Camp Sandcastle is going to once again be held at Camp Aranzazu in Rockport, TX. There are all kinds of fun activities, like archery, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and more! This camp is free of charge to the families, thanks to generous donors in the Coastal Bend.

Rockin' For A Cure Gala
September 21, 2013

The American Diabetes Association's annual gala, Rockin' For A Cure, will be held at the American Bank Center on Saturday, September 21, 2013. Rotel & The Hot Tomatoes will be performing the hits of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's to keep the party rocking! There will be a silent auciton, as well as a live auction, casino tables and great food!

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes
October 12, 2013

The Corpus Christi Step Out Walk, locally known as "Dancing Through Downtown," will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Whataburger Field. This is a free, family friendly event that brings out over a thousand people to walk the streets of downtown Corpus Christi. There are all kinds of fun entertainment acts along the route including bands, twirlers, tap dancers and more!

School Walk

School Walk for Diabetes is an educational school fundraising program that promotes healthy living, school spirit and community involvement. While raising money for the American Diabetes Association, students learn about diabetes and the importance of making healthy choices including eating nutritional foods and exercising every day. The money raised through School Walk for Diabetes helps fund diabetes research, education and advocacy in support of the mission of the American Diabetes Association.
