Why sponsor the American Diabetes Association?

Today, 25.8 million children and adults in the United States struggle daily with this deadly disease. Diabetes is a growing epidemic; 79 million Americans are at high risk for developing diabetes and there are 1.9 million new diagnoses each year. Right now, unless we commit ourselves to changing the deadly course of this disease, 1 out of 3 children born today are destined to suffer diabetes and its consequences.

The state of Texas is home to nearly 2 million men, women and children with diabetes, over half a million of which reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Too many of us are at risk. That diabetes is the Lone Star State's sixth leading cause of death is a grim reminder of just how serious this deadly disease and its resulting complications truly are. Learn more about diabetes and its toll on North Texas.
