Stars of Texas

We have some exciting things planned for this our Sweet Sixteen Celebration, because...

Life can still be Sweet – Sugar Free

We enjoy being chairs of the annual Stars of Texas … Racing Against the Odds event each year as we gather the hundreds of friends and acquaintances all working for the same thing … a cure for diabetes.  We are on our way to $5 million dollars in total monies raised by this one event for the American Diabetes Association, but we need your help.   Currently 25.8 million people have diabetes in the United States, with 7 million living with the disease but not yet diagnosed. Another 79 million Americans have pre-diabetes, a condition that leads to type 2 diabetes.  Dallas Fort Worth currently has over 600,000 people suffering with this disease.  The price tag of over $200 billion annually in costs for medical expenses and lost productivity are two of the major reasons our health care system and economy are both under such pressure.  We are working to turn this epidemic around and we need your help to do so.

Stars of Texas … Racing Against the Odds will take place once again at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie on Thursday, April 25th, 2013.  Come celebrate in style with an evening of horse racing, fabulous one-of-a-kind live and silent auction items, and great food and drink.  Join us for our Sweet Sixteen  and we  guaranteed a FUN evening as we meet and mingle with our local celebrities and sponsors, who have been a part of this event for Sixteen years.

The good people of the Dallas and Fort Worth metroplex are working together to make a difference in the millions of those affected by diabetes.  Together we can effect a positive change and raise awareness in our community through education, advocacy and much needed research.  Over $4 million dollars of research are funded annually by the American Diabetes Association right here in North Texas.   Let’s celebrate that and continue to raise dollars that will fund research searching for a cure.

Stars of Texas … Racing Against the Odds, is one of the American Diabetes Association’s top national fundraising events.  The word is out that Stars of Texas is a great way to spend an evening with friends while making a very real difference in the fight against diabetes.  Please return your sponsorship today and help us have Sweet Success on Thursday, April 25th, 2013.

We’re on the Path to a Cure!

Honorary Chairs Janeen and Randy Galloway, along with co-chairs Mary Blake and Chuck Meadows and Cathy and Bob Zollars, have brought their friends to Lone Star Park since 1997 to raise funds for a cure for diabetes. Our sponsors purchase tables and host celebrities for an evening of horse racing, great food, and live and silent auctions. The annual Stars of Texas event has raised over $3.2 million dollars for research and education. The above are pictures of some of this year's guests.
