People living in Colorado, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming are increasingly feeling the effects of diabetes as over 740,000 people within these four states have diabetes, and an additional 2.3 million more have prediabetes. It is estimated that one out of every three children born after 2000 in the United States will be directly affected by diabetes.
That is why the American Diabetes Association's Colorado Area office is so committed to educating the public about how to stop diabetes and support those living with the disease.
We are here to help!
The Denver office serves Colorado, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming.
Become a Diabetes Advocate!
Life isn't fair for people with diabetes. First, there is the simple fact of coping with a chronic illness. Second, there are the barriers that prevent people with diabetes from enjoying the same opportunities at the rest of the population. Our Advocacy efforts work to bring down the barriers and fund critical diabetes research. Take action and become a Diabetes Advocate today!
Learning to live with type 1 diabetes does not happen overnight - our message to parents and children is that you don't have to do it alone. The American Diabetes Association's Youth Programs connects families to other families of children with diabetes. Six integral parts of these programs are Camp Sweet Pea (5-17 years, Colorado), Camp DX (5-17 years, Colorado), Camp Colorado (8-17 years, Colorado), Camp KickStart (5-17 years, Colorado), Camp Montana (8-17 years, Montana), and Camp ICANDO (5-12 years, Utah) which are summer youth camps where campers participate in traditional camp activities and gain independence, grow in confidence and discover new skills, all while receiving medical care.
Colorado Gives Day is an opportunity to raise support for the American Diabetes Association! All donations from Colorado Gives Day will go to fund our local work that supports our mission to prevent and cure diabetes, and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. This year Colorado Gives day is Tuesday, December 4th, 2018.
