Diabetes Educators

Find a Recognized Education Program Near You.

Photo of Fox 5's Monica JacksonAs the fastest growing disease in the US, we know that diabetes affects so many people of all ages. Almost 200,000 Nevadans and 26 million Americans nationwide are currently living with the disease and another 79 million are projected to have diabetes within the next ten years.

This makes the mission of the American Diabetes Association—to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of those living with the disease—even more critical and we need your help.

Nevada Program Feature: Safe At School

Logo for Safe at School ProgramThe American Diabetes Association proudly features a Safe at School Advocacy Program in Las Vegas, dedicated to making sure all children with diabetes are medically safe at school and have the same educational opportunities as their classmates.

We do this by developing the tools needed to provide diabetes care at school and help families and school personnel to develop plans to prevent problems from occurring.

For more information on the Safe at School program, please contact us at 702-369-9995 ext. 7538.

Resources

The American Diabetes Association fully understands that diabetes is an expensive disease to manage, with the costs of testing supplies plus medication. The Nevada Office offers several resources to offset these expenses:

  1. Together Rx Access Card – You are eligible for up to 40% off prescription medications if you do not have prescription drug coverage and are not eligible for Medicare. Simply call 1-800-250-2839 to immediately enroll in this program today.
  2. 1-800-DIABETES – For help with specific topics in English or Spanish, we offer a support line of 1-800-DIABETES.
  3. Diabetes Management Classes – We’re fortunate to live in a city with so many hospitals offering one-on-one and group educational classes. Learn more about the area's management classes that are most often covered by insurance.
  4. Nevada Resources for the Uninsured – Learn more about some Medication Assistance Programs and Low Cost Clinics.

For more infromation, please contact Tracie Patten at tpatten@diabetes.org or 801-363-3024 ext. 7483.
