Live Empowered Program
Project POWER is a faith-based program targeting the African American community. Project POWER was developed to provide churches with a foundation for integrating diabetes awareness messages and healthy living tips into the life of the family and church.
It engages the church in a variety of year-round activities that provide lessons which improve the health of those church members living with diabetes, their families and the greater community as well.

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes
Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes is the American Diabetes Association’s signature fundraising event, held in more than 200 cities during the fall. With nearly 25.8 million Americans living with diabetes, the Association created Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes as an aggressive campaign against the disease — and a cry of hope for those affected by it.
At the event, routes are 1 mile and 5k and are accessible to people of all ages and levels of mobility. Along the walk, participants are supported by volunteers offering water, nutritious snacks, entertainment and encouragement. The event draws a large contingency of individuals and teams, comprised of families, friends and corporations, all walking and raising money in support of the Association.
This event will be held on Saturday October 20, 2012 on the Greatlawn at Waterfront Park. Register Today!
