Ongoing Programs
Diabetes Advocate
Advocacy at the American Diabetes Association works to improve access to quality care, eliminate discrimination against people because of their diabetes, and make sure the federal government is adequately funding diabetes research and programs. What you say matters.
Become a diabetes advocate and make a difference; and receive action alerts on state and federal legislation that affects people with diabetes.
Please see diabetes policy changes in schools. It's victory for one First Coast mom whose son lives with diabetes. After five years, a mother's fight to change the Duval County Public Schools' policy is over. Tracy Milligan, MS, is the Advocacy Chair for the American Diabetes Association Jacksonville Board.
The Family Link
Family Link is a program that focuses on education, social events and a mentoring program which connects newly diagnosed children and their families with experienced families who are dealing well with the disease.
Live Empowered
The African American Initiatives program, Live Empowered is a faith-based awareness program targeting the African American community. African Americans are 50% more likely to have diabetes than Caucasians.
