Why did you decide to join Step Out Oakland 2013?
I decided to join the step out about 10 days before the event when I was working on my corporate giving campaign and I wanted to support something dear to my heart that has affect me for many years. I was diagnosed with type 1 in 1990 as a sophomore at Chico State University. For many years, I tried to act like I did not have diabetes. I definitely had a sense of denial about it.

What was the walk like?
The walk was great! It was casual and not too strenuous. Everyone was smiling and having a good time. It was nice to see many different people working for a common goal. I will definitely do in again in 2014. I was so late to the event that I just donated $100 myself.

Will you walk in 2014?
I will do more in 2014 and think my new goal will be $1000. This year with proper planning I will try to compile a team to walk with me. I have some favors I can call in.
