Martha Parry Clark, Chair of the San Francisco Community Leadership Board

The San Francisco Bay Area Office is pleased to announce that Martha Parry Clark has become the Chair of the San Francisco Community Leadership Board starting in January 2014 for a two year term. Ms. Clark joined the Board in 2012.

Martha Clark's broad understanding of business and deep functional experience in several functions key to a board's mission, as well as her extensive experience in working with people, is helping us create more awareness around diabetes in our community and help us form the bonds needed to grow financial support to stop diabetes.

"I am delighted to be deepening my involvement with the Association. I see so much opportunity for the Association to try new things in the San Francisco Bay Area region, where our community is highly diverse and the culture of openness to new ideas makes it a perfect testing ground for innovative initiatives that build on our past successes."

Ms. Clark is a global executive with P&L, Strategy, Human Resources, Finance, Legal & Compliance, Risk and Technology management experience. She recently retired as Global COO and Americas CEO for AXA Rosenberg, and is currently Founder and Lead Consultant for Soares Lane Associates, where she advises companies on strategic, leadership, and governance issues.

She has worked in a variety of industries including asset management (AXA Rosenberg), internet search (LookSmart), commercial banking (Wells Fargo and Sumitomo), global logistics (Fritz), investment banking (Morgan Stanley), and strategy consulting (Strategic Planning Associates). She has experience with start-ups, newly public companies, as well as mature growth firms. Much of her executive experience has been in companies with extensive global operations.

Ms. Clark has served on several boards with fiduciary responsibility: an operating company board in London and two institutional fund boards (Irish and Cayman). She has managed the activities of a Compensation Committee and served as the CFO for a US public company. In addition, she chaired several internal operating boards including the Global Risk Management, Business Terms and Technology Change Management Initiative. She is currently Chair of the American Diabetes Association San Francisco Community Leadership Board and a member of the American Diabetes Association's National Finance Committee, the Project Redwood Board and the Stanford Women on Boards Initiative Board.

Ms. Clark received her BA in Economics from Wellesley College and her MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. She also attended Harvard's Negotiation program and Stanford's Directors' Consortium program.

We are looking forward to the next two years under her guidance.
