Washington, Northern Idaho and Montana residents are increasingly feeling the effects of diabetes as thousands of people suffer from the disease, and many others may have diabetes and not know it. Did you know that diabetes kills more Americans every year than breast cancer and AIDS combined? Diabetes doubles the risk of heart attack and stroke.

That is why the American Diabetes Association's Spokane office is so committed to educating the public about how to stop diabetes and support those living with the disease. The Spokane Association office provides resources to 12 counties in the Eastern Washington region as well as 10 counties in Northern Idaho, Lincoln County in Montana and Wallowa County in Oregon.

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes is the Association's signature fundraising walk. Step Out is filled with music, food, kids activities, local entertainment and most importantly, the company of hundreds of people who truly understand the impact of diabetes.
