Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes Volunteers
The American Diabetes Association Tampa office has our premier walk that will have over 1,800 people. In order for this event to be superior rated is for us to gather as many volunteers as we can. We need you and your bright smiles and big hearts to join us throughout the day. We will need a handful of volunteers on November 8, 2013 to help with pre-set up items as well as volunteers on November 9 for the actual event.
Come be a part of this great event and invite your friends and family. As a perk, you will get a free t-shirt, food and be able to indulge in the festivities of the event. There will be free massages, face painting, balloon twisters and music playing all day to keep the crowd energized.
Other Local Volunteer Opportunities
- Office Volunteers - Need hours for school and/or scholarships, then come and volunteer at our office. You can pick the days and times and we will be flexible with your schedule.
- Event Volunteers - We are always looking for committed individuals willing to lend their time to help out on event day.
- Health Fairs Volunteers - Individuals needed to staff tables at various health fairs. Responsibilities include setting up displays and disseminating diabetes pamphlets. Must be able to volunteer during weekdays and weekends.
- Speaker Bureau Volunteers - The Tampa Florida American Diabetes Association office receives many requests for speakers each month. We are always looking for healthcare professionals to speak at certain small events (retirement centers, schools, corporate health events, community centers, etc.) Most speeches are no more than a half an hour, but may be longer. We will provide you with information, materials and guidance to make sure you have enough material to speak about. You must be able to provide your own transportation to the event site, and be willing to speak in front of small and large groups of people.
*Speaker Bureau Volunteers must be a healthcare professionals and knowledgably in diabetes care, prevention, etc.

Internships – Special Event Opportunities
Special event interns will focus efforts on the various fundraising events including the Tour de Cure bicycle ride and or Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes events. This unpaid internship can provide school credit and offers valuable experience in the non-profit and event planning industries. Hours are part-time and the schedule can be flexible.
Candidates must be energetic, team players, results-oriented, and dedicated to the achievement of personal and team goals. This internship requires candidates with confidence in interpersonal communication, comfort with phone cultivation, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of people with and affected by diabetes.
