2011 Disparities Partnership Forum

Overcoming Disparities: Reducing the Burden of Diabetes Complications

For three years, the American diabetes Association has convened a forum that provided a platform to address the severe onset of diabetes and its complications in high-risk populations.

In 2011 the Association held its 4th Disparities Partnership Forum. The overall goal of this Forum was to explore collaborative methods of decreasing the burden of diabetes complications in populations at highest risk. 

This two-day event provided multiple opportunities for networking and idea exchange.  The keynote speaker this year was United States Surgeon General, Vice Admiral Regina M. Benjamin, MD, MBA. It also highlighted promising practices that addressed the overall goal of the Forum. The following promising practices were presented during this Forum:
