5th Annual Disparities Partnership Forum

We were very excited about our 2012 forum! The forum was designed for a unique variety of health professionals, community leaders and health advocates. We are very proud of the diverse and nationally recognized speakers and special guests that presented during the 2012 forum.

We hope to see you again in 2013 at our 6th Annual Disparities Partnership Forum scheduled to take place October 21-22, 2013 at the Hilton Crystal City Hotel in Arlington VA!

The American Diabetes Association convened a forum that provided a platform to address the severe onset of type 2 diabetes in high-risk populations. On October 22-23, 2012, the Association held its 5th Disparities Partnership Forum, entitled Overcoming Diabetes: Diabetes Care in High Risk Populations.

The goal of the 2012 Disparities Partnership Forum was to collaborate with partners to address the disparity of cultural competency, health literacy and health equity in healthcare (diabetes care), specifically in populations at highest risk for type 2 diabetes, i.e., African Americans, Hispanic/Latinos, American Indian/Alaskan Natives, Asian American/Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders, older adults, women, low income and uninsured persons.

The Forum continues represent an annual gathering that provides learning opportunities, best practice highlights, opportunities for idea exchange and fosters collaborations among various stakeholders and thought leaders.
