If you have been terminated from a job because of diabetes – or even if you suspect but aren’t sure that the reason was because of diabetes – it’s important to understand your rights and the legal processes available to you to address the discrimination.
First, take a deep breath and allow yourself a few days to digest this change. You can also contact us to receive information about diabetes discrimination. You may call us at 1-800-DIABETES (342-2383) or send an email to email@example.com. Our call center will ask you a few questions about what happened and send your request to the Legal Advocate Program for review and possible assistance.
Second, contact your state’s unemployment office and sign up to receive unemployment benefits. Understand the unemployment benefits available to you in your state and what you need to do to receive them.
Finally, know that you are not alone in this experience. Others have faced the same or similar situation and have prevailed against discrimination.
