Welcome to Camp Wana Kura
Wana Kura Goes Olympic is the this year's theme!
The American Diabetes Association Camp Wana Kura day camp is held at the Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, located at 9310 Fanita Parkway, Santee, CA 92071.
This year activities include crafts, games, swimming, and much more!
Online registration for Campers and Teens will open on April 2. Please check back to register your camper and teen.
Camp Dates: July 24 - 27, 2012 (Tuesday - Friday) Camp Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Camper Ages: 5-12 years Camp Teen Aides: 13-17 years Camp Fee: $50 per camper
For Camper: Once you register online, you will receive a confirmation email with supplemental forms that must be completed and returned in order to be completely registered.
For Teen Aide: If you are a teen and interested in volunteering, please read the information below before completing the application:
- Teens with diabetes must be at least 13 years of age
- Teens without diabetes must be 15-17 years of age
- Preference will be given to teens with diabetes and those who have siblings with diabetes
- Teens should plan to volunteer for all 4 days and attend training (Saturday, July 21, 2012)
- Registration fee: none
- The application can be accessed by clicking on the "Regiser for Camp" on the left hand side of the screen.
- Once you register online, you will receive a confirmation email with the supplemental forms that must be completed and returned in order to be completely registered.
- Apply early, positions are limited
- If you will be age 18 years or older as of July 23, 2012, please contact Andrea for information about applying as an Adult.
For Staff: New Process - If you are a 2011 volunteer, you will receive an invitation letter from adacamp@diabetes.org with the subject line "Hello from the American Diabetes Association". This email will contain a user id and password; this is needed to register as adult volunteer. If you didn't receive this email or if you have not previously volunteered at Camp, contact Andrea DeLucia at adelucia@diabetes.org at 619-234-9897 x7442. Once the online application has been completed, you will recieve a confirmation email with supplemental fomrs that must be completed and returned in order to be completely registered.
Due to limited capacity, Camp Wana Kura is only open for children with diabetes.
