About Camp Colorado

Get READY for the 55th year of American Diabetes Association Camp Colorado Camp Colorado! The mission of the American Diabetes Association Camp Colorado is to foster independence, self confidence and awareness of a healthy lifestyle through education, nutrition, exercise, emotional well being and glucose control in children.

Camp Colorado is held at beautiful Eagle Lake camp in the heart of Pike National Forest. Only 9 miles outside of Woodland Park, CO and a short distance from Colorado Springs, Camp Colorado is an idyllic summer camp setting.

What is camp all about - Empowered adventure. This is the rally cry of Association Camp Colorado. We provide one Association-trained diabetes counselor for every four campers and then add an additional program counselor just to ensure a safe good time! Camp Colorado is a non-intimidating place to expand your knowledge of diabetes while making new friends and creating experiences you'll be telling other people about for years to come.

We encourage each camper to learn something new about diabetes management but never force education. At Camp Colorado we believe that you will take something away that is specific to your own stage of development. Meet new friends, have a blast and hopefully learn something new about yourself along the way.

Residential Camp - Ages 8 to 14

Residential Camp is what most people think of when summer camp is mentioned. Archery, canoeing, riflery, swimming, crafts, camp Olympics and capture the flag are familiar activities on the program agenda. Some new ones you might not have heard of before include the flight simulator (aka “Vomitron”), the “blob” aqua jump and the zipline!

Teen Camp - Ages 15 to 17

Teen Camp is a combination of residential activities and adventure designed with teens in mind. Common activities include hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, conquering the ropes courses, beach time and best of all white water rafting! Night time activities focus on teaching leadership and team building with the intent of encouraging teens toward becoming mentors.
