About Camp John Warvel

The American Diabetes Association - Indiana Area is proud to host its 58th year of Camp John Warvel. Children with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes are welcome to attend this week-long residential camp, which includes 24-hour medical supervision by some of the top diabetes health care professionals in the state. Camp John Warvel takes place at Camp Crosley YMCA, a site accredited by the American Camp Association. The camp is near North Webster in Kosciusko County on beautiful Little Tippecanoe Lake. Campers enjoy water activities, sports, drama, crafts, Mock Rock night, rock wall climbing, low and high ropes courses, archery and much more! Cabins are air-conditioned, the grounds are gorgeously wooded and well-maintained. It's modern camping at its best! The camp fee includes 24-hour medical supervision, meals and snacks, American Diabetes Association Camp t-shirt, housing, supervised program activities and most diabetes supplies.

Parents know their kids are:

  • Surrounded by health professionals with diabetes expertise who provide continuous medical supervision.
  • Interacting with counselors who serve as positive role models.
  • Learning to balance nutrition, physical activity and diabetes care.
  • Meeting friends who understand what it’s like to have diabetes.
  • Gaining confidence, discovering new skills and learning respect for nature, themselves and others.
